OCEAN OF LIGHT
FROM THE LED CUBE TO LARGE IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES
The Ocean of Light project explores the creative and immersive possibilities of light-based visualisation in physical space. It uses bespoke hardware consisting of three dimensional arrays of dynamically controlled LED lights to create interactive and three-dimensional immersive experiences.
The project started in 2008, received funding from the Technology Strategy Board in 2009-10, and is currently the subject of a PhD funded by Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Norway. The project has also received support from Arts Institute Bournemouth, and collaborated with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology/Horao GmbH, DeMontfort University and Massey University.
